A new report has revealed rising rates of marriage breakdown in Ireland.

The research, based on recent Census figures, shows that marriage break-ups have increased five-fold in two decades.

Limerick and Dublin cities have the highest rates of breakdown in the country with one-in-five broken marriages.

The worst affected age group is 45-49 year olds
