US computer parts maker Analog Devices is to cut 150 jobs at its Limerick operation.

The company, which employs 1,250 people in Raheen Business Park in Limerick, said it plans to focus on its more advanced facility at this location and will phase out and close one of its sections.

The semiconductor maker said Limerick continues to play an integral role in Analog Devices' global operations and the operation there remains its manufacturing flagship.

Dennis Dempsey, Vice President of the Limerick unit, said the decision is part of a long-term strategic plan to maintain a leadership position.

Analog Devices was established in Ireland in 1977 and employs around 9,000 people worldwide.
