Six arrested at climate protest

Updated: 21:04, Saturday, 18 August 2007

Six more climate change protesters have been arrested near Heathrow Airport in London as a major police operation continues to prevent disruption at the airport tomorrow.

A number of environmental activists from the camp locked themselves onto the gates of a warehouse near the airport which is owned by an Israeli firm.

A total of 40 arrests have been made since the camp was set up last weekend.

Protesters tonight threw a man off the site for aggressive and drunken behaviour.

He was escorted off the camp and handed to police officers who arrested him.

A spokeswoman for Heathrow said the airport is operating normally but traffic jams have formed on approach roads as police step up their activities.
