News At One: Bill Bond, journalist in the Canary Islands, says local police are investigating a row over a traffic accident that lead to the death
The incident took place early today in the resort town of Puerto del Carmen.
It is understood the 18-year-old victim and two other Irish friends, became involved in a fight with four other people, who fled the scene in a car.
Police are reported to be seeking two people in particular.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs said its officials were in contact with the family of the victim, both in Lanzarote and in Ireland.
