17-year-old held over Meath stabbing

A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Co Meath.

A man in his 30s was found stabbed in the head on Main Street in Duleek last night.

An ambulance crew found the victim with a knife embedded in his skull after being called to the area shortly before 11pm.

Gardaí say he had been involved in an altercation with another man.

He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where his condition is described as serious.

The man will undergo emergency surgery today.
