A man has appeared in court in London charged in connection with the failed car bomb attacks on central London and at Glasgow airport.

Dr Mohammed Jamil Asha, 26, who worked at a hospital in Staffordshire, is charged with conspiracy to cause explosions.

Dr Asha is the fourth person to be charged in connection with the car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow.

A further suspect is still seriously ill with burns.

Mohammed Jamil Asha was arrested when the security services stopped his car on the M6 motorway.

His wife, who was also arrested, was later released without charge.

After a brief appearance at Westminster Magistrates Court, he was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey next week.

Meanwhile, police in Bristol have arrested two men under the British Terrorism Act.

Officers searched a flat for drugs and found two 25 litre containers of hydrogen peroxide, which is one of the ingredients used in recent terrorist attacks in Britain.
