Body of man found in Galway river

The body of a 56-year-old man has been recovered from a small stream in the town of Loughrea in Co Galway.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the man’s death. There is nothing to indicate that foul play was involved.

The body was found in the river known as the Moate shortly after 11.30am.

It has been taken to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe for a post mortem investigation.

The dead man is believed to be from the locality.
