Six One News: Ray Colgan reports that an investigation has been launched into the incident on the Donegal-Derry border
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car on the Buncrana to Derry Road.
The incident happened just inside the Co Derry border at 10a.
The PSNI say the car was abandoned, but that a man has now been arrested by gardaí. He is being held in Buncrana Garda Station. It is believed the driver of the car was attempting to evade gardaí at the time of the incident.
The PSNI is investigating the fatality which occurred in their jurisdiction.
The Garda Ombudsman Commission has begun an investigation into the incident.
