Joe Rea - Passed away, aged 69

The former leader of the Irish Farmers' Association, Joe Rea has died after a short illness. He was 69.

He was president of the IFA from 1984-88 and led farmers into the first national partnership agreement in 1987.

The current IFA president, Padraig Walshe, has described him as a talented and determined representative.

He said Mr Rea would be sadly missed by the farming community.
