Deputy Calleary said that the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, indicated that prior to her rejoining Fianna Fáil the Independent TD would have to resolve her legal issues, and that there would have to be a process of consultation within Fianna Fáil in Mayo.

He said there were some feelings of concern over the issue within the party, but that others felt that a resolution was in the best interests of Mayo and Fianna Fáil.

He added that it is important that the process of consultation within Fianna Fáil in Mayo is as deep and wide as possible.
