The former US President, Jimmy Carter, has fiercely criticised the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, for what he calls his blind support for US President George W Bush.

In a BBC interview, he describes Mr Blair's attitude towards President Bush as abominable and his backing for Washington's policy in Iraq as a major tragedy for the world.

Mr Carter also said he believed that Mr Blair had been loyal, blind and apparently subservient to the White House.
