The Royal College of Surgeons Ireland cervical screening service based at Beaumont Hospital has said it has been forced to send samples to the United States for testing, on the instructions of the Health Service Executive.
In a letter to family doctors in Dublin and obtained by RTÉ News, the service run by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland says the move is beyond its control.
Thousands of cervical smears are already being sent to the US by the HSE, because of the backlog in testing here.
