As the General Election campaign enters its second half, all parties and independents will be working hard this weekend to get their message across to voters.

Among the policy issues to be raised today are the environment, crime and housing.

In the capital today, Fianna Fáil is due launch a plan for the future of Dublin Bay, while in Galway they will publish a plan on Irish and the Gaeltacht.

The Taoiseach is campaigning in Clare, Kerry and Cork, while Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny will also be in a number of constituencies in Cork, where he will be stressing crime, and in particular the need to put the victim before the criminal.

Addressing a crowd of supporters in Listowel, the Taoiseach spoke of the Government's record on infrastructure and employment and he also said that Fianna Fáil has farmer's interests at heart.

Later, a group of nurses from the Psychiatric Nurses Association picketed on the main street in Killarney as the Taoiseach was canvassing in the town.

Also, speaking to reporters in Killarney, the Taoiseach indicated he would make a statement relating to his house purchase in the next few days.

Labour leader Pat Rabbitte is in Meath and Louth, where he will concentrate on proposals to control property management companies and ensure proper completion of housing estates.

The Greens are due to publish a position paper on asthma and allergies, while the Progressive Democrats launch their arts and culture policy.

Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness of Sinn Féin are campaigning in Dublin.
