It is estimated the measure will save the average household £100 in the year ahead.

Following the first meeting of the Executive, it has also decided to conduct a comprehensive review to finance water and sewerage services.

This review will be completed by the autumn.

The decision not to impose new charges for water and sewerage services in 2007 or 2008 will cost £75m and will come from additional resources, which the Executive has received through negotiation with the British Chancellor.
