Tallaght Hospital has issued a statement saying that a number of appointments and procedures due to take place tomorrow morning have had to be deferred due to the work stoppage by nurses.

Contingency plans have been agreed between hospital management and the Irish Nurses Organisation and all patients who have had appointments or procedures deferred have been notified.

Last week the INO and the Psychiatric Nurses Association voted to escalate their campaign with a series of two and three-hour stoppages which are set to take place tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday.

The action is part of their campaign for a 35-hour working week and 10.6% pay rise.
