The Irish Road Haulage Association has said that it will not be part of the planned M50 protest on 8 May.

A group of disaffected hauliers from The Road Transport Association has confirmed that up to 600 trucks are due to block one lane of the M50 near the Westlink toll bridge from 6am on Tuesday morning.

The IHRA said that while it is sympathetic to the hauliers who are organising the action, it remains committed to ongoing dialogue with the Government.

The RTA also intends to disrupt operations at Dublin Port.

The hauliers are demanding the abolition of haulier tolls on the M50, and the appointment of a Haulage Industry regulator.
