Fianna Fáil TD Noel Dempsey has said that the PDs are Fianna Fáil's preferred option as Government partners but that ultimately it is up to the people to decide.
Mr Dempsey said that Fianna Fáil is fighting this election as an independent party, and that after the people make their decision, politicians will decide on how to deliver a good strong Government.
When asked if the Taoiseach should issue a full statement on the controversy about his personal finances, he said that if the Taoiseach issued a statement every day for the next 21 days there would still be people raising issues and questions.
He defended the Taoiseach, saying this last ten years unprecedented in the history of this State and he thinks people know that will make their judgement on that, not on his or somebody else's personal finances.
