Prison officer still held in smuggling probe

Gardaí are continuing to question one prison officer in connection with the smuggling of mobile phones into jails to give to prisoners.

He is being held at Newbridge Garda Station in Co Kildare.

Two other officers, arrested in connection with the investigation, were released without charge yesterday.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
