The coroner at the inquest into the deaths in Paris in 1997 of Princess Diana and her companion, Dodi Al Fayed, has dismissed the theory of a murder plot.

Lady Elizabeth Butler Sloss was referring to allegations by Dodi's father, Mohammed Al Fayed, who insisted that the couple were murdered.

The coroner said she had not been given 'a shred of evidence' to back up the allegations and said that if there was no evidence to support the claims she would not present them to the jury.
