There were snowfalls across the northwest this morning, but the weather has turned wet and windy.

In Sligo, county council gritters were out at 5am today to treat all national primary and some regional routes.

There was slush on some roads in the south of the county, but they were passable.

In Co Donegal, there were heavy snowfalls, but gardaí said the main artery in the county - the Barnesmore Gap - was passable.

In north Leitrim, gardaí said there was a lot of slush on the roads, but that they were passable with care.
