The Cabinet has appointed the Assistant Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan to the new post of Deputy Garda Commissioner, which was created following a recommendation by the Garda Inspectorate.
Martin Callinan was the officer in charge of the National Support Services, which includes the Criminal Assets Bureau, Fraud Unit and the Drugs and Immigration Units.
