A company owned by a friend of the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has been wound up by the High Court.
J & H Burke & Son builders specialised in refurbishing pubs and employed 16 people in north Dublin.
The company was owned by former Fianna Fáil councillor Joe Burke - a long time associate of the Taoiseach.
Mr Burke was one of a number of friends who contributed to a whip-round for Mr Ahern in 1994, after his marriage broke up.
Mr Burke was appointed chairman of the Dublin Port Company in 2002.
This morning, the High Court was told that his own building company owes almost €1m to its creditors.
The court agreed to wind it up and to appoint liquidator Kenneth Fennell.
Mr Fennell will now secure the company's assets and establish a full list of creditors.
