In the search for missing fishermen off the southern coast, strong winds and severe swells have again forced garda and naval divers to temporarily abandon plans to trawl the seabed.
However, search teams are hopeful that they will be able to dive to the seabed near Hook Head where the Pere Charles sank on Wednesday.
An intense search is underway to find the location of the second vessel, the Honeydew II from Kinsale, which sank off Mine Head.
Coastguard vessels and shoreline searches began their work at first light this morning.
Naval divers travelled to Hook Head yesterday but were prevented from diving because of high seas and poor visibility.
All hope of finding the missing fishermen alive has now faded.
The Pere Charles sank off Hook Head near Wexford on Wednesday evening. Its five crew had all been fishing off Dunmore Reef.
Within hours of that tragedy, the Honeydew from Kinsale sank about 32km away at Mine Head.
Two of the Honeydew's crew were rescued and two remain missing.
Meanwhile, separate investigations have begun into the circumstances surrounding the sinking of the two trawlers.
