Adoption Ireland queries rules

The Adoption Authority of Ireland has made contact with the Chinese Central Adoption Agency to ask them to confirm whether they have introduced tighter rules governing foreign adoptions.

Unconfirmed reports from agencies working in the field suggest that the Chinese authorities have introduced a ban on adoptive parents who are unmarried or over 50.

A spokesperson for the Adoption Authority of Ireland said that so far they have not received any reply from China.
