The jury in the trial of Co Mayo farmer, Padraig Nally, for the manslaughter of John Ward two years ago has been sent to a hotel for a second night.

The jury has now been deliberating for ten hours over the past two days.

Earlier Mr Justice Kevin O'Higgins had told the jurors they could return a majority verdict, saying he would accept a majority verdict from not less than ten of them for an acquittal or a conviction.

He also stressed that there were no time constraints on them.

Mr Nally, a 62-year-old farmer from Claremorris, has pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter of John Ward, 42, on 14 October 2004.
