Hanafin announces €540m for education

The Minister for Education has said that more than €540m will be spent building new schools and modernising others next year.

The Minister for Education, Mary Hanafin, has said that more than €540m will be spent building new schools and modernising others next year.

€305m is to be spent in the primary sector and just under €230m on second level schools.

More than €300m is going towards what the department calls large-scale building projects.

This money is to be concentrated on providing school accommodation in developing areas.
