Woman dies following Rathmines hit and run

A 20-year-old who was injured in a hit and run in Rathmines in Dublin almost two weeks ago has died.

Lily Hastingsbass, an Englishwoman, who was living in Rathgar, was struck by a small, dark blue car that failed to stop.

She was crossing the road near the Grovesnor Road Garage at the time.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Gardai at Rathmines on tel 01-666700.

Two die in road accidents

A 45-year-old woman has been killed in a road crash at Schull, Co Cork.

Gardai said two cars crashed at Lowertown, at half past three this afternoon. 

Another woman was taken to Bantry Hospital but her injuries are not life threatening.

Meanwhile, a man was killed in a road accident in Co Sligo yesterday evening.

The man was walking near his home in Beltra, on the main Ballina to Sligo road, when he was knocked down by a car.

The accident happened at around 5.30pm.
