Cork man goes on trial for Keaney murder

The trial of a 21-year-old man accused of murdering Cobh teenager Sheola Keaney has begun at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork.

Thomas Kennedy of Russell Heights, Cobh, is pleading not guilty to her murder in July of this year.

The teenager was strangled and her body hidden in plastic bags under bushes at Newtown in Cobh.

Some 150 witnesses are expected to be called over the next three weeks.
