To meet those demands the society spent a record €41 million last year, 6.6% more than in 2004.
The figures were released at the launch of its annual Christmas Appeal. The society is looking for €5 million in public donations in the run up to the festive season.
That money will be spent giving cash, fuel and food to those most in need, as well as paying for education, outings, clothes and furniture.
More than two thirds of St Vincent De Paul's money comes from donations.
The society's week-long appeal begins this Sunday and ends on 10 December with a nationwide church collection.
