Britain and Pakistan agree terror measures

Britain and Pakistan have agreed to strengthen their efforts to fight terrorism.

The agreement was reached when the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, met the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, for talks in Lahore.

Britain is to double its development aid to £480 million to pay for the reform of Islamic schools in Pakistan.

At a joint news conference, Mr Blair described the talks as 'immensely constructive' and he said relations with Pakistan were at their highest point for many years.

Mr Musharraf said Pakistan was fully committed to tackling extremism.
