Gardaí in Fermoy have extended the period of detention for two people they are questioning in connection with the seizure of cocaine in Co Cork last night.
The drugs, with a street value of over €500,000, were discovered when gardaí searched a car in the village of Kilbehenny, north of Mitchelstown.
The drugs were found concealed behind the driver's seat and were contained in sealed bags.
The driver of the car, who is in his 40s, and his passenger, a woman in her 20s, are being detained at Fermoy Garda Station, under Section Two of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act, and can be held for up to seven days.
While the arrested pair have a Dublin address, the drugs were understood to have been destined for sale in the Cork area.
