Doctors at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin are planning an experimental treatment for people with diabetes, which can help them live without daily insulin injections.

The procedure involves taking cells that produce insulin from a donor pancreas.

Doctors say that 5% - 10% of patients with insulin-dependent diabetes might benefit from the treatment.
