The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has told the Fianna Fail Wolfe Tone commemoration that in 200 years there has not been as much dialogue between the parties and traditions as there is today.
Mr Ahern said that there has never been a better opportunity for a lasting peace and seizing it is the duty of everyone.
The Taoiseach was speaking in the aftermath of the setback which saw the postponement of a landmark meeting between Sinn Féin and the DUP.
