Ireland's largest trade union, SIPTU, is to consult the Lord Mayor of Dublin, city planners and councillors about its plans to demolish Liberty Hall and rebuild its headquarters on the site.
RTÉ News has learnt that the union's national executive recently approved recommendations to pursue proposals to knock down the 16-storey tower and adjoining buildings.
The project is subject to planning permission.
