The Irish and British governments are continuing their talks in Scotland with the Northern Ireland parties as they aim to restore powersharing to Stormount by the 24 November deadline.

Earlier, the governments told the political parties they will present their formula for restoring devolved government at lunchtime tomorrow.

The decision by Bertie Ahern and Tony Blair came as they faced the possibility of the failure of negotiations with the parties in Scotland.

Last night, Mr Ahern said it was vital that progress was made in the next couple of days.

During the first evening of negotiations, DUP leader Ian Paisley called on republicans to give police information about past crimes and hand back what he described as 'ill-gotten gains'.

Sinn Féin Chief Negotiator Martin McGuinness has said that Stormont must be up and running before his party would call a special Ard Fheis to deal with policing matters.
