Minister for the Environment Dick Roche has said his view on electronic voting machines has not been altered by a recent report in the Netherlands.
The report showed that a group of people had managed to hack into the computers and manipulate data on them.
He said his view remains that the current electronic voting machines that are in storage in Ireland will remain there for the time being and will not be used in the next General Election.
He said he was considering a report in relation to the e-voting machines in Ireland.
Referring to the television report from the Netherlands, the Minister said it was easy for anybody to take the back off machinery when they had it in their possession.
He said e-voting machines would only be used in Ireland after a period of consultation and when there was public confidence in the machinery.
