There were further protests at the Corrib gas terminal in Co Mayo today as a large force of gardaí escorted construction workers onto the site.
A group of over 100 local people were restrained by gardaí when a convoy of vehicles taking workers to the site passed them on a road leading to the terminal.
About 100 gardaí took part in this morning's security operation.
They did not mount checkpoints and close the roads leading to the site as on previous days but instead escorted the demonstrators as they took part in a mile long march.
Members of the Shell to Sea campaign initially recited the rosary and later chanted slogans demanding that Shell build the terminal offshore.
There were a number of minor confrontations between the gardaí and the demonstrators as the cars carrying the workers made their way to the main entrance.
Willie Corduff, one of the Rossport men jailed for 94 days last year, said it appeared the gardaí were being used to impose the will of Shell Ireland on a local community which continued to be opposed to the project on health and safety grounds.
