It is understood up to 60 jobs are to be lost at the Motorola mobile networks plant in Co Cork.

Motorola employs 400 staff in software development at its plant at Mahon in Cork.

A Motorola spokesperson said that the company was in discussions with its staff regarding the future requirements on the site.

The spokesperson said Motorola was committed to 'communicating directly with its people'.

The company would not comment publicly on numbers, but it is understood staff were told that around 60 jobs would be cut. 30 jobs were lost at the plant last July.
