The leaders of Fine Gael and Labour have claimed that Fianna Fáil has been rejected by all the parties except Sinn Féin and the PDs as potential government partners, and that a vote for Bertie Ahern now represents a vote for instability.

Enda Kenny and Pat Rabbitte were speaking after they met outside Mullingar to review negotiations on a joint platform for next year's General Election.

They unveiled their plan for reform for our mental health services, which involves prioritising suicide prevention.

The Labour Deputy Leader and Health Spokesperson, Liz McManus, said the parties pledged to deliver a well-resourced mental health programme that will be directed as far as possible towards recovery.

The Fine Gael Health Spokesman, Dr Liam Twomey, said Fine Gael and Labour would introduce programmes aimed at the prevention of suicide and suicidal behaviour and would increase the budget of a revamped National Suicide Prevention Office.
