One of Ireland's largest employers, Intel, is set to cut jobs globally by at least 10,000.

One of Ireland's largest employers, Intel, is set to cut jobs globally by at least 10,000.

The computer hardware manufacturer currently employs 5,500 permanent and contract staff here.

It has not yet emerged whether any of the job cuts will affect Irish employees.

Details of the cuts are expected to be announced when Intel's Chief Executive, Paul Otellini, briefs staff on Tuesday.
