Gardaí investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Dublin's south inner city say the incident may have resulted from a row between rival gangs over drugs.
The 22-year-old victim was from the area and was known to gardaí, who are questioning two men.
Another man who was shot in the leg was also 22 and also from the Dublin 8 area. He is being treated at St James's Hospital, where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Gardaí believe the two men who were shot were socialising with others in a nearby pub prior to the incident.
The man who later died in hospital was found injured in a car on Cameron Street off Cork Street at around 1am.
The scene remains preserved and an examination by garda technical experts has begun. A post mortem is due to take place later. Gardaí have removed for further technical examination the car in which the man was shot.
Gardaí, detectives and members of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation met for a case conference at Kevin Street Garda Station this morning.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen a silver coloured car in the area at the time to contact them.
