The Minister for Education, Mary Hanafin, has criticised the tendency in some schools which encourages students to cram before their exams.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio, Ms Hanafin said many students felt under pressure from other pupils to take extra tuition.

She said there was a terrible trend within certain schools of students feeling that they have to do grinds or attend cram schools when this was not the case.

This year's Leaving Certificate results are issued tomorrow.
