Iran has said it will press ahead with its nuclear programme despite a United Nations Security Council resolution.

Iran has said it will press ahead with its nuclear programme despite a UN Security Council resolution calling on it to curb its research by the end of the month or face sanctions.

Tehran's chief nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, said Iran would pursue its right to develop nuclear energy within the framework of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

He warned the West not to do anything which would result in reducing access to international nuclear inspectors.  He described the UN resolution as illegal.
