The IFA president Padraig Walshe has warned EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson in Brussels that any breach of the EU negotiating mandate during the summer or in the autumn would be highly irresponsible and foolhardy.
After his second meeting with Mr Mandelson in 10 days, Mr Walshe said he told the Commissioner to tear up his plans for flying around the world bargaining away European agriculture.
He also told Commissioner Mandelson his race was run in these negotiations until such time as he had concrete offers from the United States and the other big trading blocs.
