The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has today published the Fifth Interim Report by the Commission of Investigation into the Dublin and Monaghan Bombings of 1974.
Following a request from Mr Patrick MacEntee, SC QC, Mr Ahern granted a further extension of the timeframe for the completion of the Report of the Commission of Investigation.
It has now been extended to 31 October 2006.
The Commission has been tasked with finding out why the garda investigation into the Dublin and Monaghan bombings was wound down in 1974, why the gardaí did not follow up on certain leads, and the location of certain files and documents relating to the investigation.
