An Irishman is among eight people being held in a cocaine smuggling investigation by Spanish and British police.
Over €25m worth of drugs was seized when armed officers stormed two yachts moored off Ibiza and the Costa Blanca yesterday morning.
The drugs were found hidden below the decks of Caribbean and trans-Atlantic cruise yachts.
In Ibiza the British owner of the yacht was arrested along with another Briton and an Irish citizen. 717kg of cocaine were seized.
The British skipper of another yacht in Benidorm, on Spain's south-east coast, was detained along with two other crew members. 116kg of cocaine were seized in that raid.
As part of the same investigation, police in Liverpool raided the homes of four members of a drugs gang suspected of shipping the cocaine across the Atlantic.
All eight people, three Spaniards, three Britons, a Norwegian and an Irishman, remain in custody.
