Former lobbyist Frank Dunlop has denied he did a deal with the Mahon Tribunal to avoid prosecution for perjury.
Mr Dunlop admitted he did lie under oath at the tribunal but in April 2000 he decided to 'cross the Rubicon' and tell the truth about bribing politicians.
He has accused former executive of Monarch Properties Eddie Sweeney of telling him to 'do what you have to do' in relation to lobbying councillors about the company's proposed development at Cherrywood in South Dublin.
Mr Dunlop said he took this to mean that Mr Sweeney knew that bribes were to paid but under cross-examination by Bill Shipsey SC he admitted the words were open to interpretation.
He to admitted Mr Shipsey that before his 'Pauline conversion' he had the ear of Ministers, Prime Ministers and other politicians and his own corruption had come at a great personal and professional cost.
But he denied there was any arrangement with the tribunal about his evidence and said he could still face a term in jail if found guilty of perjury.
