285 jobs will be created over the next five years in a major expansion by two international companies at the Shannon Free Zone.

285 jobs will be created over the next five years in a major expansion by two international companies at the Shannon Free Zone. 

Halifax Insurance Ireland will generate 185 new jobs and Sykes Enterprises, Inc will generate up to 100 jobs.

The move will be supported by Shannon Development.

Halifax Insurance Ireland is a subsidiary of HBOS plc, one of the UK's biggest banks while Sykes Enterprises, Inc is a leading customer care management solutions and services company.

Announcing the jobs, the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin, who is leading a trade mission to the Far East said: 'This is a tremendous boost.'
