Man admits possessing M50 explosive device

A 23-year-old man has pleaded guilty to possession of an explosive device at the M50 in December of last year.

A 23-year-old man has pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court to possession of an explosive device at the M50 last year.

Martin O'Rourke with an address at Sheepmore Grove in Blanchardstown, Dublin, was arrested by members of the Special Detective Unit who stopped a car near the Westlink Toll Plaza on 8 December 2005.

Today O'Rourke admitted having an explosive device in his possession at the Westlink Toll Plaza in Castleknock.

He has been remanded in custody to be sentenced in two weeks' time.

The court heard O'Rourke is currently serving a sentence for a separate offence.
