Gregory Conway, of Fr Murray Park in Dundalk was in court on foot of a bench warrant issued on 15 June 1992.

The warrant was issued when he failed to appear on charges of manslaughter and causing grievous bodily harm to Denis Quinlivin at Palm Court, in Southill in Limerick in 1991.

The victim, aged 40, died in hospital months after he was beaten up.

The court heard that the accused had spent many of the intervening years in England.
